It’s a Haas world at Westec
when I talk Machine Tools, I want to speak with a knowledgeable salesperson. That technician’s outfit sends the message that this company is all business.
The Haas Machines as far as the eye can see send the same message. This isn’t your Father’s Haas, the one that battled it out with Fadal over low end Vertical Mills; this is a State of the Art American Manufacturer with a product line that will blow your mind. I know, it’s not a Mori or a Mazak, it doesn’t have to be. This is a company that can put a Five Axis Horizontal or a Five Pallet Cell System on your shop floor for less than the price of a condo in east
They’ve got some big, heavy duty Hoggers, but it seems that they are ceding the large Aerospace work to the Japanese “Big Guys” Haas is betting on the people who got them here, small business, job shops, nimble companies with savvy employees who are not afraid of technology. Haas bets on the youth of this country and they bet on diversity and minorities, and I don’t think I will be betting against them any time soon.
I teach at a community college that is stocked with high end Haas equipment. Haas not only puts it on the floor at virtually no cost, they replace it every two years. Haas maintains a policy of training the future generations in our Industry, and in making sure they are training on the latest equipment. I can’t imagine how much money they invest in it, but I guarantee it is well into the millions.
Who else do you know with the forward thinking to invest a major portion of its profits into education, with no way to measure success? Who else has such an extensive product line? What other company’s technicians pull out a notebook when they don’t have the answer to a question, and ask “can I have your number sir? I will find out the answer and give you a call.”
Haas gets it.
