Importing and exporting operations in Mastercam allows you to save the cut parameters for features that you use often.
In this case we will spot drill; pilot drill and tap ¼-20 threaded holes and then save the operations to a library. ![]() Select the operations that you want to save: right mouse click in the white area of the operations manager and select “export.” ![]() If you check the box labeled “export operations geometry” the geometry will come in when you import the operations, if you don’t check the box, the operations will come in with no geometry and you will need to select geometry for each operation after import. ![]() Leave “disable duplicate tool checking” unchecked. If you are working on a new part and you have already created tools that are used in the import operation, Mastercam will automatically assign the imported operation to the existing tool. If you have not yet created tools, Mastercam will automatically bring in the tools with the operations. ![]() Now, you need to save the operations to your ops folder in Mastercam. ![]() You can save directly to your default operations file ![]() Or: create a new operations file. ![]() Click Ok, you will receive a message that your operations exported successfully. Click OK to close the message and then close the dialog box by clicking the X in the corner. ![]() Now, open a new or existing file. When you import operations, if you are importing operations geometry, it will come in on the same level on which it was created in the original file. ![]() Make sure you have selected a Machine Group. ![]() Right mouse click in the operations manager and select “import” ![]() Click on the drop down menu and select the operations library. Check the relevant options boxes and check the operations that you want to import. ![]() You can bring in the toolpath groups from the original operations if you wish. ![]() Select the operations origin and then click escape. ![]() Say OK ![]() And then click the X to close. ![]() ![]() You can also import operations and geometry directly from a Mastercam file. Click on the folders icon, navigate to a folder that contains Mastercam files, click on the arrow next to the folders and select an MCX file. ![]() |
