Zip to go files are the way to communicate with Mastercam technical support personnel whenever you are having a problem.
The zip to go file contains the Mastercam program, Machine and control definitions, post processor and several configuration files, so that the person has all of the necessary information to diagnose your problem. Open the Mastercam file that you wish to diagnose and make sure you have a machine Definition loaded. ![]() Select help and then Zip2go utility ![]() select “file” and then “new” ![]() The “save” dialog box opens, name your zip to go file and click the “zip to go” button. ![]() ![]() Mastercam compiles all of the necessary files and compresses them into a z2g (zipped) file. ![]() Send this file via email to your technical support representative. Note, if you are attaching a Z2G to the eapprentice forum, you will have to zip the (z2g) file, our forum only accepts file with a .zip extension![]() Once the tech support person diagnoses your problem, he or she will send back to z2g file, the next step is very important, create a new folder on your desktop. ![]() To open the z2g file, open Mastercam, Select help, Zip2go utility And then file, open. ![]() Select extract from the command menu. ![]() You will be prompted for a file location to place the files ![]() Save the files to the new folder that you created on your desktop. ![]() Open the Mastercam file and test any changes made by the technical support person. ![]() If changes were made to your machine definition, control definition or post processor, you still have a few more steps to finish the process. First test the Mastercam program from within the temporary folder. Mastercam will use the current Machine and Control Definitions when they are in the same folder before looking for your original files. ![]() Once you are satisfied that everything is working correctly, you can move the files to the correct position within Mastercam. I would recommend re-naming your original files, instead of overwriting them. Move the .mmd and .control files to the CNC_machines folder within Mastercam on your c: drive. These are the machine and control definition files. ![]() Then move the .pst file to the “posts” folder within the Mastercam mill or lathe folder. This is your post processor. ![]() Save your Mastercam MCX file. The rest of the files in the z2g can be deleted. |
